What says..

The relationships between the girls and staff are universally praised and we saw lots of warm and relaxed exchanges. ‘They are interested in you and what you want to make of your life’, sixth formers say. What the school says...

Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls is an outstanding place of learning and opportunity, with consistently high examination results, the school deserves its reputation for providing 'dynamic traditions'. The school ethos develops talent whether it is academic, sporting, musical or social and emphasises courtesy and respect as community values.

The school has its own Chaplain and an encouragement of democracy within the pupil body. This links to carefully structured pastoral care, and engenders the spirit of teamwork, initiative and mutual support.

The School's Preparatory Department, Inglefield House, is dedicated to nurturing our young pupils with class teachers providing substantial pastoral support, as well as academic rigour in a homely environment.

The Sixth Form emphasises self disciplined freedom to give pupils a 'bridge' to university. HMSG shares a range of activities and a coordinated timetable with Monmouth School, enabling a choice of over 30 AS/A Level subjects.

The boarders, some of whom are weekly, play an important part in the life of the school and enjoy a more intimate atmosphere than is possible in a larger boarding community. There is a superb variety of clubs and societies at all levels of the school and a substantial commitment to the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Sixth Form girls can also join the Combined Cadet Force (CCF).

She knows everyone’s names and it is widely held that she ‘walks the talk’. As far as encouraging girls to take risks is concerned, in addition to joining them on outdoor pursuits adventures, she learnt a One Direction tune on the recorder and played it in assembly. We were impressed, and so were her pupils. She...
