The college has its own orchestra. During the visit one class was playing standard and bespoke instruments and music via iPad apps. The college recognises that the arts offer few opportunities for employment but wants to help learners develop as musicians, dancers, actors and artists. Because of the nature of their specialist needs the students are unlikely to get a job through filling out an application form or sending a CV. Instead they have work placements where their abilities are assessed, and roles are customised so an employer can make a realistic offer of paid work. Parents often come on their own for a visit to see if the college would be suitable for their son/daughter. Then they will come with a potential student and maybe book in for an assessment if appropriate.

Students do not always start in September, but if they get a year's funding it is likely that they will get a full 12 months at the college.
