Special Education Needs
Norman Gate is a small primary school for children with a range of learning difficulties. About a third of our children are on the autistic spectrum. We believe children learn best when they have fun, have high self esteem and are encouraged to "have a go" without worrying about getting it wrong. Our children have a variety of needs, all of which are met by our excellent staff team who treat every child with respect and according to their individuality. We believe in the value of play and of learning to learn. We have good links in our community and take the children out to make learning real for them. Children are taught through a range of approaches, which incorporate thinking skills, therapies and visual, auditory and kinaesthetic teaching styles.

If there are more applicants to a school than it has places for, who gets in is determined by which applicants best fulfil the admissions criteria.

The best source of information is usually the relevant local authority website, but once you have set your sights on a school it is a good idea to ask them how they see things panning out for the year that you are interested in.
Many schools admit children based on distance from the school or a fixed catchment area.
