Special Education Needs
Our SEN staff comprise a faculty within the school, with a wide range of experience across the support and teaching staff within the faculty. The support our students receive combines in-class support and one-to-one sessions with a key member of the team. We have an intervention programme aimed at raising the attainment of those students identified as working at level 3 or below in year 6 of primary school - this intervention begins during the summer term before the students arrive at Parrs Wood for year 7. Since Sept 2004 we have also had specialist provision for hearing impaired students at the school, with the students following a mixed curriculum - supported in mainstream lessons and spending part of the school day working as a group with specialist staff in their own base within school.
