Entrance
The school has pupils from a wide range of local authorities. Pupils can join the school at any stage of the year. While the majority start in September, there are some who may join mid-term if there has been a breakdown in their current provision or if they have been out of school.
To minimise anxiety, pupils have two weeks in their new class before the summer holiday which gives pupils the chance to get used to their new peer group and timetable and for staff to identify gaps in skills and make sure they are in the right group. Those students who have been out of education for a long period need to be introduced gradually into the classroom.
