At lunch, we talked with some girls from year 3 whose ‘best things about the school’ were flapjacks on Wednesdays and ‘golden time’ - 'where we can do drawing'. On the same table was a year 8 boy, hopeful of a place next year at Eton, who was of the outlandish opinion that Repton Prep was 'the most rounded school in England'. Since September 2018, Robert Relton, previously principal of Repton Abu Dhabi, a day school for 3-11 year olds. Educated at the College of St Mark and St John, he is interested in PE and using IT in teaching. He spent 12 years at Ravenscourt Park Prep, as deputy head and head, before setting up and running Repton Abu Dhabi. His wife, Lola, is a consultant eye surgeon, and they have three young sons.


This is essentially non-selective, although those who wish to enter from year 3 onwards will be given introductory papers to assess their abilities in English, maths and reasoning. The expectation and the reality is that children will progress to year 8, ultimately following either scholarship or common entrance systems of study.
