Special Education Needs
St Bede's Learning support department has a base with 11 multimedia computers with a range of software including voice activated software for use by pupils with a range of learning difficulties. There are five specialist teachers within the department for pupils with MLD, SpLD, BESD and physical difficulties; currently there are 25 Special Support assistants. We have two fully equipped toilet areas with hoist, changing table, shower, height adjustable wash basin and toilet. There is a fully equipped kitchen area with height adjustable sink, hob, oven and work surfaces. Ramps and lifts to the yard and buildings plus other reasonable adjustments make the school suitable for pupils who are wheelchair users. Small teaching groups at lower levels to help meet pupil needs.

If there are more applicants to a school than it has places for, who gets in is determined by which applicants best fulfil the admissions criteria.
Admissions criteria are often complicated, and may change from year to year. The best source of information is usually the relevant local authority website, but once you have set your sights on a school it is a good idea to ask them how they see things panning out for the year that you are interested in.
