What the school says...

At St Edward's School our commitment to small class sizes enables our excellent teaching staff to concentrate on teaching and inspiring every child to succeed. Each pupil can fulfil their potential as teachers focus on the individual. Our excellent pastoral support allows children to grow in confidence and independence. Educating boys and girls together develops their social skills and equips them for the demands of the real world. Our inclusive ethos and breadth of opportunities encourages every single child to thrive and discover just how amazing they can be. As a day school, all children go home every evening so parents are an essential part of their educational journey. Pupil's are well-grounded, caring, responsible and articulate.

Scholarships are available for pupils entering Year 7, 10 and Lower Sixth. We also offer a Full Academic Bursary-Scholarship for pupils entering in to Year 7.

What the parents say...

Really pleased with St Edward's. My son is in year 11 and has made excellent progress, much more confident. Really supportive staff and nice, polite kids. Would recommend.

St Edward's is a little gem of a school. My son had attended two other schools in the area, but this is where he has really flourished. The academic rigour is always there, but the pastoral care is very strong too. I think it's a very welcoming school for new students - my son felt at home and happy there almost immediately. I wish we'd sent him there sooner.

My son has really flown along at St Edward's School. He joined from a state secondary school in Year 12, and has loved every second. He made friends very quickly, settled in well and was extremely involved in school life from the start. In only on year he went on two trips abroad, played a major role in the school play, joined three choirs, sang in the Albert Hall, was made a House Captain and rounded the year with an outstanding set of AS grades. How great it was to hear him in August saying how much he was looking forward to going back to school - and how unusual for a teenager! I would like to thank St Edward's School for all their hard work and, naturally, I highly recommend this school to other parents.

As a parent of two boys (Years 8 and 10) I would thoroughly recommend this school. The pastoral and teaching staff cannot do enough to accommodate each child's individual needs. My eldest son is a shy striver who struggled in a big local comprehensive and was relegated to a bottom set, hence the change of schools. Within a term at St Ed's the SENCO had identified that he is perfectly able but has problems with speed of processing. Now that he has extra time his progress and confidence in himself has soared, at no time has he ever been made to feel a failure at St Ed's., unlike in his last school. In his weakest area of Maths his teachers have worked with great patience and kindness enabling him to achieve a Grade C at GCSE a year early! This is a huge achievement for our son as we never thought he would pass, the flexibility of being able to focus mainly on his maths this year has paid dividends. In contrast our younger son is very able but quite minimalist, he is however left in no doubt by his teachers that the school expects excellence from him and it is very much nose to the grindstone. Any minor discipline issues, lapses with homework are acted upon immediately much to his chagrin. There is a lovely family atmosphere throughout . All the children are known to and nurtured by the staff. There is an array of extra curricular activities and many wonderful trip opportunities. Cannot speak highly enough of this school.

As parents we are delighted. It recently achieved excellent in all categories in its ISI inspection and it is easy to see why. All our children have thoroughly enjoyed their time at the school and have achieved well beyond our expectations. The teaching is first-rate and there are also so many opportunities for children to excel in a range of activities outside the curriculum and you can see their confidence grow as a result. We'd certainly recommend it to anyone as it caters superbly for all abilities. Quite simply, a fabulous school!

Thank the school

Parents and pupils often have cause to acknowledge the help and support they have received from their schools, for example in helping in the choice of further education or careers. "Say thank you" allows you to send a quick note of appreciation to the school in general or to an individual teacher.

This is a thank you to your school, teacher or careers adviser who helped you to get where you are now.

Please fill in the fields below, which we will transform into a letter of thanks from you to them.

Leave blank if you want to thank the school as a whole

Years you were there

Can be left blank but, if you can, think of a few words that will bring a smile.
