What the school says...

St Joseph’s College is a Catholic school dedicated to offering an education that places equal importance on creativity, kindness and academic achievement. We take pride in nurturing each student’s unique talents so they develop a passion for learning. We encourage curiosity and self-expression, helping every student to discern their ambitious future and doing all we can to ensure they achieve it.

By fostering a supportive and inclusive community, with small class sizes all on a single site, we are a school that is welcoming to all; we care for each other like a family. A student’s education from 3-18 is seamless. They are seen and known as an individual, challenged and supported by both peers and staff. Our curriculum is broad and in depth, structured around the student giving them the freedom to choose their own path.

It's not just about learning either, it’s about providing a whole ‘experience’. We want students to enjoy lessons, but also to embrace all we have to offer – whether that be starring in a drama production, playing in a music concert, representing the school in a sports fixture, doing charity work, going on an inspirational trip or participating in the other varied extracurricular activities we offer. We aspire for them to become the best version of themselves in all endeavours.

Putting our students’ wellbeing first is another priority for us. We place great importance on delivering exceptional pastoral care and we think that every student has a right to feel safe, content and championed throughout their schooldays.

Providing an education which provides value for money and is within reach of as many families as possible, without compromise, is also a fundamental aim. We manage our costs to maintain fees below the market rate and we are genuinely committed to providing the very best for our students without creating an ‘elitist’ environment.

We strive to encourage our students to look after each other – guided by Catholic Christian values that are embraced by families of all faiths and backgrounds. We want our students to grow up to treat themselves, others and the world around them with love and respect, serving the wider community. This is all underpinned by our five C’s: commitment, collaboration, communication, confidence and compassion. These five C’s create well-rounded young women and men that will go on to make fantastic achievements in different fields. Whether that be, becoming a doctor, economist, fashion designer or the Prime Minister.

Most importantly, St Joseph’s will equip your child with the skills, self-worth and education to step confidently into an ever-changing and challenging world, seeking to make it a better place for all.

Other features

All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Please note: Independent schools frequently offer IGCSEs or other qualifications alongside or as an alternative to GCSE. The DfE does not record performance data for these exams so independent school GCSE data is frequently misleading; parents should check the results with the schools.
