What The Good Schools Guide says..
‘They are like sponges at this age,’ said the pre-prep head, ‘and seem to absorb everything. The learner is at the centre of every decision and each child is treated as an individual.’ This was very much backed up by the parents. ‘They really know my son and his capabilities and were quick to point out when he was being slightly lazy.’
What the school says...
The Stephen Perse Junior School helps pupils to discover a love of learning and learn a love of discovery. We aim to develop inquiring, reflective, open-minded young people, prepared for the opportunities of the 21st century and equipped to play an active role in an increasingly international world.
/> We are co-educational, but use a diamond model of learning, to offer a 21st century version of single sex education. In core subjects, boys and girls are taught separately between the ages of 9 to 16, whilst still socialising and learning together in other subjects.
This profile also includes the Stephen Perse Pre-Prep School for 3 to 7 year olds which offers a choice of two locations either central Cambridge or rural Madingley, where we deliver parallel classes, full of creativity and fun. ...Read more
Thank the school
Parents and pupils often have cause to acknowledge the help and support they have received from their schools, for example in helping in the choice of further education or careers. "Say thank you" allows you to send a quick note of appreciation to the school in general or to an individual teacher.
This is a thank you to your school, teacher or careers adviser who helped you to get where you are now.

Head of junior school
Since 2007, Katie Milne BEd (Cantab), education and geography. Originally from Dundee but with very little trace of the accent. Joined the school in 1979 and was acting head twice before appointed head in 2007. Friendly and competent, clearly stands no nonsense but not scary. Revered by all. ‘So impressive, she is very on the ball.’ And, ‘she has great foresight and experience,’ from another happy parent. Teaches RS to transition years, 3 and 6. Knows all pupils and parents. Practical with great common sense. Currently overseeing the inclusion of boys up to year 6 and the introduction of the diamond structure.
Acting head of the pre-prep during 2016/17 is Alice Haywood. Maths with education degree and PGCE from Cambridge; taught across the primary age range in local...
