Sunninghill Prep School is a distinctive single form family school located in the heart of the county town of Dorchester. We are passionate about ensuring that all our children receive a broad and enriching education that is tailored to the needs of the individual. Driven by inspirational teachers who understand the need to go the extra mile, academic rigour is a standard part of everyday life at Sunninghill. A rich and varied diet of sport, music and creative art is part of every child’s daily routine
To celebrate and encourage achievement we hand out a multitude of awards on a weekly basis.
We also appreciate that our pupils must build up an array of skills through our Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTs) program that helps self-awareness. In particular, and from an early age, teachers encourage the ability to think creatively and work independently, both at school and at home. We understand that whilst clever children know the answers, bright children have the questions.
In Form 6, 11+ exams are sat in Maths, English and Science. From there our children march confidently onwards towards Form 8 when children will sit a variety of exams to the senior school of their choice. To achieve our shared ambitions, we set individual targets and closely monitor endeavour and performance.
Our aim is to inspire each and every individual to have the confidence and desire to achieve their full potential within a nurturing and supportive community that empowers pupils to be themselves and do their very best.
