Terrington Hall School

What says..

Pupils told us they feel well cared for, ‘We get wellbeing checks every day. You put a note on the teacher’s desk in the morning and if you aren’t feeling happy someone will have a chat to you.’ Team sport is completely inclusive and school says, ‘Every child in school represents us in all sports.’ Although there is no assembly hall or dedicated performance space there is a real enthusiasm for drama here. What The Good Schools Guide says

Head

Since 2024 Huw Thomas, BSc. Mostly educated in Swansea then sixth form at Christ’s College Brecon on a sports scholarship. Degree in exercise and sports science from St Luke’s Exeter during which he was a semi professional rugby player. ‘I was never going to teach, I was going to play rugby.’ However this career was cut short by injury and after graduation he worked as a sports graduate at Blundell’s before taking up a permanent post and teaching PE there for 11 years. Special Education Needs

Our priority is to ensure that all children at Terrington Hall achieve their full potential with positivity, confidence and self-esteem. Our resources are centred around the Learning Support Hub - a bright, warm and welcoming classroom staffed by our special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) and a part time teaching assistant. They work across the academic departments to provide and plan support for all children. This may include targeted interventions, online intervention programmes, classroom support, and small group work. We work closely with children, their parents and our staff team to ensure that learning support is positive and personal. We believe in inclusion and seek to provide a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum that provides equal opportunities for all. Treating every child as an individual is important to us and we welcome all children with learning support needs as long as our staff team can provide them with the support they require.
