Main school buildings abut the main road, yet once through the gates it is a revelation. The school backs onto acres of pristine gardens, beautifully maintained games fields and a small working farm complete with pigs, cows and horses. There are proper napkins at mealtimes, and grace is said. The children are genuinely charming - friendly, respectful but responsive, confident and very happy indeed; well motivated and thoroughly self disciplined – we saw groups working on their art, music and sports during break...

Since January 2018, Chris Hattam, previously a senior housemaster at Sedbergh School, where he also taught philosophy and RE and coached rugby, cricket and hockey. Degrees from Edinburgh and Manchester; worked as a probation officer with young offenders before turning to teaching. He is married to Jess, with three children (and three spaniels).
