One singularity of The Lyceum is the emphasis it places on a topic approach – that is, picking up on a subject or theme which will allow the children to experience it through a host of media and disciplines. ‘For me,’ said a parent who has had two children go through the school, ‘this way of learning has been decisive. Since September 2022, Mike Stanley. He grew up in a family of teachers and education runs through his core. Educated at Blundell’s School, then Cardiff University, where he read ancient and Byzantine history. Before joining the Lyceum he was head of years 5 and 6 at Rokeby School in Kingston, deputy headmaster of Walhampton and then headmaster of Forres Sandle Manor.

His educational philosophy is based around recognising, understanding and nurturing children as individuals and working with parents to help develop their skills for the future, emotional intelligence and inner strength. Married with two children, one at the University of Bath and one at Bryanston. He loves sport, particularly rugby and cricket, and is an avid Surrey County Cricket member.
