What the parents say...

I attended McAuley from 2000 to 2006. The school prepares children well for GCSEs, lessons are well structured and the teaching standard is good overall. On the other hand this school probably isn't for everyone when it comes to A level study. For any student continuing from GCSEs to this stage, I'd urge them to keep an open mind about other sixth forms in the area such as Danum and Hayfield. I was disappointed to find that the stringent rules that help guide children as they progress through GCSE level at Mcauley are still in place for young adults as they traverse the sixth form life. While teaching standard is good, some may find policies such as elasticated ties and and study periods confined to school grounds as restricting adult development and autonomy during A levels. This is a faith school, so there are compulsory masses, church retreats and RE lessons to also take into account for those who identify as non-Christian at this stage. In my personal experience, moving schools after AS level was one of the best life decisions I ever made. The teachers in my new sixth form were far more down to earth, and school rules and regulations also took second place to the student's development as an individual. I have do doubts that McAuley is a good school, but as I've mentioned, this place is not for everyone. Had I not moved away when I did, it's certain that I wouldn't now be pursuing a PhD at a Russell group university.

Thank the school

Parents and pupils often have cause to acknowledge the help and support they have received from their schools, for example in helping in the choice of further education or careers. "Say thank you" allows you to send a quick note of appreciation to the school in general or to an individual teacher.

This is a thank you to your school, teacher or careers adviser who helped you to get where you are now.

Please fill in the fields below, which we will transform into a letter of thanks from you to them.

Leave blank if you want to thank the school as a whole

Years you were there

Can be left blank but, if you can, think of a few words that will bring a smile.
