What the school says...

Truro High School achieves excellent academic results at all levels from our youngest pupils in reception through to those sitting GCSE and A Level examinations, for which we regularly sit at the top of the county league tables. The majority of Sixth Form students leave for Russell Group universities and go on to read a very diverse range of subjects. This is no surprise to us, as we treat each girl as an individual and help her to achieve her own aspirations. This is one of the reasons why we believe so strongly in providing an all-round education. We are passionate about sport, drama, textiles and fashion, cooking and baking, business enterprise, astronomy, engineering, science, leadership and so much more. We also believe that our pupils benefit immensely from a girls-only education: they are free to be themselves and to take on any and every opportunity. All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Since 2018, Sarah Matthews, previously interim head of St Mary’s Shaftesbury. Degree in philosophy and RS from Lancaster; PGCE from St Martin’s College. Spent 12 years at Stamford High School as pastoral head of year and housemistress before moving to Hong Kong for three years at Harrow Hong Kong, again as housemistress alongside teaching philosophy and RS. Moved back here to give her children a more British education; her daughter is at the school and her son at a local primary.

A warm, approachable figure with a reputation for nurturing and protecting every child in her care. Several of her former charges from Hong Kong followed her to Truro High as boarders and many old girls remain in touch to ask for advice and guidance way beyond her school remit.
