What the school says...
Located near the market town of Kirkby Lonsdale on the edge of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, Underley Garden is an independent special school and children's home. We are specialists in education, care and therapy for young people with autistic spectrum conditions, learning difficulties and mental health needs.
The school and home provide for young people between the ages of nine to 19. The children's home is rated outstanding by Ofsted. The school was judged to be good with outstanding features at the most recent inspection.

Executive Principal
Since January 2017, Ann Henderson. She is a special needs career professional. Qualified as a primary and early years teacher, then was a SENCo for three years before taking up a post in a school for physically disabled young people. She was principal officer for SEN services in Cumbria for six years and then a specialist advisor for the DfE, but as special needs teams began to shrink, she decided she would like to go back into schools and did a fast track head teacher qualification. She was head of Woodlands, a special school in Blackpool, before joining the Witherslack group where she was interim headteacher in two schools before becoming a regional director of a group of specialist residential schools.
