Since 2002, Patrick Mattar LRAM MA. Educated at Solihull School and the Royal Academy of Music. He originally hoped to play the piano professionally but despite performing in Germany, Holland and the US he realised that a classical music career is ‘a very rare thing’. When he spotted an ad for the director of music role at Norland Place he applied for it and got it. ‘The first thing I noticed when I came here was that the children were happy and relaxed and there was such a nice rapport between the teachers and the children,’ he says. We have a part-time special needs co-ordinator and a part-time speech and language therapist, along with a school counsellor who visits once a week. External agencies are used for support with occupational therapy needs, for example.
