Headmaster
Since 1994, Nicholas Kaye, MA (Cantab) FCOT, who was deputy head before that. As a founding trustee of Sussex House, he has more freedom than most heads to form the vision and direction of the school. Erudite and fun, he is a Cambridge graduate in English followed by music research. These passions are apparent in the school. He describes SH as a ‘creative project’, a non-profit-making charitable trust, with funds channelled into the school. ‘If I am determined to have something, I can usually get it sorted by the end of the week,’ he says.
Certain headmasters change pupils’ lives, and Mr Kaye is one of them. He loves to educate, teaching the top year group English, where they explore Conrad, Dickens, Shakespeare and Graham Greene. A parent tells of...
