Since 2021, Perran Gill, an engaging and chatty Welshman who was previously deputy head at Keble for nine years. Parents deeply relieved at his promotion as they value his ‘good sense’ and ‘evident love of the school’, and say the pupils have ‘fantastic respect’ for him. Married with teenage son and daughter (wife also teaches locally). Grew up in a small village in the Brecon Beacons and went to the local school; he credits an inspirational PE teacher for no less than four of his year group becoming headteachers. Special Education Needs
Keble has a small team of professionals who support children with additional needs. These include three dyslexia-trained part-time teachers and learning support teaching assistants for Years 1 to 4. Support in the senior school is reduced and generally in-class. Children with a diagnosed need have a pupil passport with reasonable adjustments made. We support children with an EHCP, but Keble is not a specialist school and generally additional needs fall within the mild to moderate range. The curriculum is academic and from year 5 takes account of the Common Entrance syllabus. The emotional well-being of all pupils is a key aim at Keble and is supported by the whole school ethos, PSHE syllabus and additional social skills input and support groups.
