Head teacher
Since September 2022, Gemma Strong, previously deputy head and before that, a maths lead and year 6 teacher at the school. Degree in psychology. In fact, it was her interest in educational psychology that led her into teaching. Post GCSE, she worked for four years in a state school four years.
Entrance
Main entry points are nursery, reception and year 3. No selection, but children spend a morning in school, are informally assessed and references are requested. ‘Very rarely do we turn a child away if we have space for them.’ Popular choice with Newcastle parents so still receiving registrations at birth, with waiting lists currently up to year 3.
