Wide curriculum which includes two modern languages and one ancient one; English, history, geography and the sciences get a particular thumbs-up from the pupils but some parents think academic work has not been taken sufficiently seriously. We heard over and over that the best thing about the school is the emphasis placed on the innocence of childhood, and prolonging it as long as possible by keeping children away from life’s grittier realities. The freedom to roam the entirety of the grounds, get muddy and climb trees (conditional on getting your tree licence!) just add to the charm of the place. Since 2018, Chris Searson BA. An English degree from Warwick preceded spells at several prep schools in the south of England and several roles including head of drama, houseparent and SENCo, all of which were doubtless useful for this, his first headship. He came most recently from Highfield, a special place in his heart as he met his delightful wife Harriet there; it was somewhere he thought he would find hard to leave. ‘The Beaudesert job was the only one my previous boss had ever pushed my way – and I didn’t think I’d get it!’ he admitted disarmingly. ‘But when I visited, I realised Beaudesert was somewhere I could fall in love with. Those first impressions are still with me.’
