Entry into reception is non-selective but the children have three visits to the school prior to starting so staff get to know them. Entry after that depends on previous school records. Assessment for the older pupils. Reasoning paper and maths and English tests for key stage 1, Saturday exam for older ones. ‘There is no pass or fail as such, but it allows us to discuss the child’s prior learning with the parents. We do not have a one size fits all approach here as all children are different.’ Some are kindly advised the school is not for them, but not many.
