Since August 2023, Philip Barr, who studied PE and maths at St Mary’s University Twickenham, followed by an MA in Catholic education and leadership – a textbook training for a Jesuit prep school head. A respected former deputy of the school, he is back after a spell as head at Donhead Prep – ‘it felt like a homecoming’ – restoring stability after a hiatus in which the former head and two other senior staff decided to leave (for unrelated reasons), and a period with an interim head. Parents are effusive about him: ‘He’s off the charts – the school feels a different place to a year ago, and he’s prepared to embrace change.’

Special Education Needs

The school has its own SEN unit, the Campion Unit, which assesses the needs of pupils in the school and assists them as appropriate. The school can help pupils with mild dyslexia or dyspraxia. Differentiation is a necessary part of the teachers' work in the school which is designed to help pupils with a difficulty or those who are particularly gifted. Academically gifted children are also placed in a small class for Years 7 and 8. 10-09
