What the school says...

Founded in 1935, Staines Preparatory School has been ‘Educating today’s children for the challenges of tomorrow’ for over 80 years. We are a happy, welcoming and non-selective school that prides itself on creating a genuine family atmosphere alongside a first rate education.

Following a full ISI inspection in December 2019, Staines Prep was rated to be 'excellent’ in the quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements as well as the quality of the pupils’ personal development. The highest grade in all areas.

Inspectors commented that “pupils’ achievement is high, particularly in entrance exams and scholarships to selective senior schools” and we are committed to delivering the highest quality educational experience, which is both challenging and fun.

Our independent status allows us to provide a bespoke learning opportunity alongside the National Curriculum giving our pupils the tools to achieve well above the national average. This was recognised by the ISI who commented that “Overall achievement in EYFS is excellent” as well as noting that “Mathematics is a strength of the school”, “Numeracy achievement in Year 1 & 2 is excellent” and that “pupils’ writing in English is excellent”.

Pupils at Staines Prep learn the value of commitment to successful learning, develop discipline and a sense of responsibility. Our supportive and nurturing environment enables pupils to fulfil their potential and become more confident, independent lifelong learners across all areas of the curriculum and well–adjusted, global citizens. The ISI inspectors were particularly impressed by this, noting that “Pupils display high levels of self-esteem due to the nurturing environment of the school”.

Come and experience the school first hand by arranging a private tour or visiting us at one of our popular Open Mornings throughout the year, details of which can be found on our website www.stainesprep.co.uk.

Special Education Needs

We will support your child every step of the way to achieve their potential and to feel confident within the school community, and this includes pupils with special educational needs. We start with differentiated and personalised teaching across the curriculum to ensure all children maximise their learning. However, if it is felt that more tailored intervention is required then our SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) is able to carry out observations and assessments to ascertain any interventions which might be suitable. An Individual Support Plan (ISP) will be created outlining this, alongside targets for the term. Support for your child may be given within the classroom, or they may participate in individual or small group support. In some cases, seeking advice from an outside specialist such as an Educational Psychologist may be suggested. We work in close partnership with parents in order to provide the best possible support for our pupils, enabling them to build on their strengths and achieve their personal potential, whatever their needs and abilities.
