The big news is that the prep, along with both the girls’ and boys’ senior schools, are to become one co-ed school. Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 will become co-ed in September 2024, and based on the current Monmouth School for Boys site at Almshouse Street. Years 12 and 13, already co-ed, will be based on the west side of the Monmouth Girls’ School site on the Hereford Road. What the school says...

Monmouth School for Boys guides day and boarding pupils aged 11-18 through this crucial stage of their educational and emotional development. We provide a positive, constructive and inspiring single-sex community within which they thrive and flourish. Education is carefully planned to motivate and challenge boys; the academic curriculum is specifically tailored to them, and they engage in a broad choice of subjects free from any gender stereotyping. Our boys’ talents are nurtured and they make the most of the area’s wonderful natural resources and the excellent facilities on offer for sports, culture and the arts. Through our unique Monmouth Model, our boys also benefit from the invaluable interaction with Monmouth School for Girls, sharing many trips and expeditions, events and community projects. Understanding the pressures of adolescence, our focused approach prepares boys for Sixth Form, where they have the confidence to aim high in their specialist academic subjects and to fulfil their particular sporting, musical or artistic ambitions. ...Read more

Hails from Northern Ireland, where he was educated at a Belfast grammar school, boarding from 11. Loved school so much that teaching was really the only career that could fill the hole after leaving at 18. Armed with his degree in German and philosophy from Jesus College Oxford and MPhil...
