Since the start, Joy Wemms. Comes from a local family driven by uncompromising work ethic and principles – standing up for the underdog, among them.
Dyslexic (undiagnosed by her teachers), her confidence was efficiently whittled away by her school, giving her first-hand knowledge of being an outlier. ‘You had to be in the top two per cent to get a place and they spent the whole time I was there telling me I was an idiot,’ she says.
