What is this?

Facilitating A levels are ones that are commonly needed for entry to leading universities. They are: biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, further mathematics, geography, history, English literature and classical or modern languages. The % of pupils achieving AAB or higher may therefore decrease if many pupils have opted not to take two or more of the facilitating subjects mentioned.

SEN statement

Provided by the school and not part of our review

Teaching assistants support pupils who have most significant need. Some support is provided by the Local Education Authority and some is provided by the school.

There are withdrawal groups for literacy and small groups for basic skills and SPLD input. These groups are taught using a multi-sensory approach. There are also homework and keyboard (typing) clubs. Some students have word processors. Some pupils have support for self esteem and behaviour modification. Students' needs are carefully screened and a range of access arrangements are provided for examinations in line with the criteria set by the examination boards.
