SEN statement

Provided by the school and not part of our review

Palatine has a dedicated Learning Support Area in addition to a Behaviour Support Unit. Learning Support is staffed by two qualified SpLD teachers and ten Learning Support Assistants. Students are supported in a number of ways, either by additional staff in smaller classes, or by extra withdrawal classes in small groups to enhance basic skills. Students are withdrawn from timetabled lessons on a rotational basis for these, so they also continue to access the full curriculum with their peers. We have 15 computers in Learning Support with a variety of programmes, including "Successmaker", an Integrated Learning System allowing students to work at their own pace on indidvidual programmes. We feel we provide a supportive, caring environment, offering encouragement before, after and during the school day, for every student to discover their own personal strengths.
