Peter Symonds is an open access, non-selective sixth form college in Winchester, Hampshire. One of the country’s most successful colleges, Symonds is one of the top five contributors to Oxford and Cambridge universities. With over 4,700 students, the college is a vibrant, diverse community and offers a modern, forward-thinking environment in which students can learn and develop. The college has an experienced and well qualified Learning Support department. Specialisms include dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD, English as a second language, support for visual and hearing impairment and Asperger's. There are three co-ordinators: Co-ordinator for Learning Difficulties; Co-ordinator for Physical Disabilities; and an Inclusive Learning Co-ordinator. On our Adult Education Site there is an adult learning support co-ordinator providing support for adults. Experienced Learning Support Assistants support both in, and outside the classroom, ensuring that the needs of the students are met. The services of other professionals are brought in as required. 09-09
