Although it is a pretty safe bet that most English students, regardless of their education up to this point, are not too keen to lock themselves up in single-sex institutions for the next four years, it is worthwhile giving Barnard a mention. For all those girls out there who are looking for a top-rate education in the most exciting of American cities, this is a definite option. The female counterpart of the now co-ed Columbia, Barnard enjoys all of Columbia’s facilities as well as its own, and is known as one of the strongest female colleges thriving in the United States today.
