Swarthmore College

How many Swarthmore students does it take to change a light bulb?

Eight--It's not that one isn't smart enough to do it, it's just that they're all violently twitching from too much stress.

What says...

One of the very finest liberal arts colleges in the country, you'll find Swarthmore up there at the tops of all the rankings lists, sometimes even above rival schools like Amherst and Williams. There's good reason for this fantastic reputation. Swarthmore's alumni read like a Who's Who of 20th century innovation.

The academic program is extremely rigorous, but despite the ultra-challenging and hard-working nature of the university, especially for those who are engaged in the tons of extracurricula activities and attempt to have a social life, Swarthmore is very flexible and extremely supportive. Students are friendly, interesting and engaged, and the campus is simply stunning.

One of the most competitive schools in the country, Swarthmore only accepts about 15% of applicants, so you need a seriously strong application here. About averagely priced for a good liberal arts college (ie, expensive), Swarthmore reserves enough financial aid for about 20 of the most needy international students, though this is needs-based only.
