About Irena
Irena started her career in local newspapers and news agencies before working for 10 years at the country’s leading education magazine. She has expertise in UK primary and secondary schools, the independent and international sectors.
Living in London, she understands the competitive school admissions culture and what parents are really looking for when they pay for education.
Her favourite thing about visiting schools is usually meeting the students, admiring their artwork and viewing the D&T workshops. Her least favourite aspect is eating spaghetti in the canteen whilst taking notes – it’s a recipe for stubborn stains.
She says: 'I love schools – primary and secondary – that go out of their way to create an atmosphere of "home-from-home" where children feel safe, known and able to be themselves – this is the best environment to help children learn and one I would wish for my own kids.'
