Are you a talented writer with a soft spot for schools?

We’re always on the lookout for writers in the UK and beyond and are particularly keen to hear from candidates from diverse ethnicities and backgrounds.

Ideal candidates should have a current understanding of schools in the state maintained and private sectors or of international schools in the UK and abroad. Sharp wit, a great turn of phrase and willingness to commit to reviewing a minimum of six schools a year over approximately 18 days are also essential. School visits happen during term time and reviews take, on average, between two and five days to research and write, depending on the type of school.

Underpinning every one of our school reviews is a tried and tested methodical approach involving background research, a school visit, meeting staff and pupils and interviewing parents. Our writers, who come from the length and breadth of the United Kingdom and around the world, have a wide range of backgrounds; nearly all are parents themselves.

We pay per review on a sliding scale starting at £465 for a small junior school; travel expenses are reimbursed. Training/mentoring is provided for all new writers. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept applications from teachers who are currently employed in a school.

For writers in the UK, please send us an email introducing yourself, explaining why you fit the bill and include your CV. Tell us about the parts of the country you know well or if you have any particular education interests such as boarding or SEND.

For writers based overseas, please email us with your CV and a couple of paragraphs explaining why we should include your current city or country and why you are just the person for the job.
