So much information is available free of charge, what are the benefits of unlocking reviews?
If you think our free information is good, wait until you’ve unlocked our UK school reviews. You’ll get unlimited access to our in-depth and candid reviews of over 1,300 independent and state schools in the UK.
When you unlock international reviews you’ll also have access to reviews for nearly 300 schools in over 30 countries, all written by local experts.
I emailed you but did not get a response
We aim to answer all emails that we receive from customers. If you have not received a response within five days, please do get back to us. Sadly, we are not immune from emails going astray or being eaten by spam filters for no apparent reason (though we do check spam).

How long does it take for my access to reviews to be activated?

I have just unlocked reviews but I don’t seem to be able to access them. What should I do?
Check that the email you have received says ‘confirmed’. If your payment did not go through, or you did not pay, the invoice will say pending. If you have a confirmed payment for unlocking reviews log out then log in again. If you still do not have access please contact [email protected]
Do you offer corporate access to reviews?
Yes, in response to requests from several organisations, corporate access to our reviews is available. Email [email protected] for a tailor-made package.
Are all schools listed on the website?
Yes. We list basic information on all schools in the UK with five or more pupils, regardless of whether they are reviewed by The Good Schools Guide. About 1,300 specially selected UK schools have in-depth reviews. We also have over 300 international reviews and information for nearly 2,000.
How do I know which schools are reviewed by The Good Schools Guide?
We review over 1,300 independent, state and special schools in the UK and over 300 abroad and we are always adding to this number. If you use the search function you can filter reviewed schools.
What if I unlock reviews and then discover the schools I am interested in aren’t featured?
There’s more to The Good Schools Guide than just school reviews, but if you unlocked the site specifically for this aspect then it is best to check first to see if we have reviewed the schools that interest you (see above). However, many users tell us that reading reviews of featured schools helps them understand how to get under the skin of those we haven’t reviewed. We appreciate feedback on all schools and are delighted that so many of you let us know about schools you visit, whether or not they are in The Good Schools Guide. If you are not satisfied with your access to reviews we will, in most circumstances, offer a full refund.
Why are some schools not reviewed by The Good Schools Guide?
Our local teams analyse all the schools in their area on an ongoing basis to ensure we cover the best schools in our guide. We are not just focused on academic results; a Good Schools Guide school typically stands out in all aspects from pastoral care to sporting ethos and provision of the arts. If a school is not included, it is usually because we haven’t received sufficiently strong feedback from our local sources, but this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not a good school. We record all recommendations from parents and have many schools on our ‘watch list’ for future inclusion in The Good Schools Guide.
Do you have plans to add more state schools to The Good Schools Guide?
Yes – we are working towards having reviewed 400 of the best state secondary schools by the end of 2027 and hope to build our offering further from there.
Why don’t you review state primary schools?
Simply because there are too many good ones and they are so dependent on small catchments. Parents tell us that they are most interested in finding out about secondary schools, but we do cover the best primaries briefly in our Area Guides.
