About Rachel
Rachel has a degree in English literature from the University of London, and a master’s in education from Oxford University. After a long career as a teacher, Cambridge examiner and senior leader in state, independent and international schools, she moved to New York City with her husband in 2018 and took the opportunity to try out other things. ‘Having been quite happy to leave schools behind, I was then delighted to be approached by The Good Schools Guide to visit and write about them!’
Despite not working in schools these days, she loves the way that the role allows her to walk through the school gates again but without having to teach a class or mark any homework. ‘I’m always excited to visit a school I am reviewing and see the sheer variety of ways each school does their thing, and I always appreciate the trouble they go to when they have a Good Schools Guide visitor. I know what it can feel like from the other side.’
