Ascham suffered unfairly, in the past, from a reputation of exclusivity left over from the 80's. However, it has come out the other side improved and with its eye firmly on the future. Expats will benefit from the fact it is easier to get a place and their daughters will learn to fend for themselves and emerge ‘university-ready’.
There is less parental involvement than in many schools, which is more a problem for the parent than the child. As one parent put it ‘You can drop them off at 4 years old and pick them up at 17 years old and they will be fully educated.’ One of the top girls' schools in the country and a solid choice for aspirational parents everywhere.

There is a strong emphasis on easy transition to school life at Ascham, with each new student being nominated an ‘Ascham sister,’ who contacts each girl before they arrive and continue to be there to help and support their ‘sister’.

Classroom & community
There is a ‘misconception that all the parents are Eastern Suburbs elite’. However, in many cases both parents work, and although there is definitely a good proportion of wealthy parents, there is no great divide.
