What the school says...

Lakeside is situated to the north of the City centre in a pleasant suburb of Cardiff. The school has a 40% multi-cultural and multi-ethnic pupil roll and caters for a wide range of specific pupil needs. The school had a successful Estyn inspection in October 2002, being described as a 'good school with a number of notable features'. Provision for pupils with special education needs was highlighted and described as 'very good' and provision for pupils with English as an additional language as 'very good'. 'There is a very caring ethos in the school and the provision for support, guidance and pupils' welfare is very good.' ...Read more

Thank the school

Parents and pupils often have cause to acknowledge the help and support they have received from their schools, for example in helping in the choice of further education or careers. "Say thank you" allows you to send a quick note of appreciation to the school in general or to an individual teacher.

This is a thank you to your school, teacher or careers adviser who helped you to get where you are now.

Please fill in the fields below, which we will transform into a letter of thanks from you to them.

Leave blank if you want to thank the school as a whole

Years you were there

Can be left blank but, if you can, think of a few words that will bring a smile.

Special Education Needs

The Special Needs Team (SENCO, SEN support teacher, SEN support assistants and headteacher) has oversight of all pupils in the shcool. Teachers and support staff work closely with parents to identify any pupil with any special education need, relating to learning or medical needs. Pupils are supported in class and often withdrawn for specific teaching and identified learning objectives. The SEN Team works closely with the LEA's Pupil Support Service staff who offer a wide variety of specialist advice and support. Parents are involved in their child's education throughout the year and frequent opportunities are provided for staff and parents to meet together informally or on a more formal review basis.
