What The Good Schools Guide says..
Jolly art room, variety of different disciplines, fabric strong and fun fashion on display (amazing: superb waistcoats: would have taken one home had it been offered), kiln. CAD part of the syllabus. Music important - all learn glockenspiel, guitar or drums in six week chunks or they sing. Terrific and popular choir (though head admits that music has ‘dropped a tad’. Orchestra (and junior orchestra - based on ability not age) - good charity concert output.

After-School Tutorials are offered in every subject in the Senior School and also in the Junior School.

The main points of entry to the School are Nursery, Junior 1, Transitus and Senior 1, but applications are most welcome at any stage in your childs school career. All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Principal
Since 2006, Melvyn D Shanks (early 50s) BSc DipEd MInstP CPhys SQH, who was educated at The High School of Glasgow, read physics and maths at Glasgow University (a 'lapsed physicist', he still teaches maths 'a little bit') followed by Strathclyde - ridiculously overqualified. Spent five years at his alma mater before coming to Belmont as head of physics in 1990, then deputy head in 1997, and says that 'the most difficult thing was to move from being in the common room to becoming deputy head'. 'Really, really excited', though it was slightly daunting 'becoming CEO'. When asked if ever he felt ‘it was the time to move on’, another opportunity opened at Belmont and ‘it was irresistible’.
