What the school says...

Since its origins in 1847, St Johns Priory has offered a stimulating and nurturing environment for children in the heart of Banbury. St Johns Priory is a thriving independent day school for boys and girls from 3 to 11 years where childrens horizons are widened by a vibrant all-round education. Our core strengths are traditional values, academic excellence including the teaching of two modern languages, music and the creative arts. Strong links with nearby senior independent schools afford access to excellent sporting facilities.
The family first approach and no Saturday school ensure that children have the time to spend with their families and are really able to enjoy their childhood.
'This school offers as close as you can get to a bespoke education for your child. Its unique family atmosphere ensures that school life can be tailored to bring out the very best in its pupils' - Mrs B, St John's Priory School parent.

What the parents say...

My son and daughter moved to St Johns a year ago and have settled in extremely well and been made very welcome. We chose the school because it was academically strong and was not too far from our home. Classes are small which means that the teachers can teach to the child’s level and also stretch the more able pupils. The teachers give good feedback to parents and are always willing to chat and are responsive and supportive to parent requests. There are a range of specialist teachers which means that lessons in all areas are strong. We have been delighted with the proactive and helpful support and feedback on secondary school choice and preparation for exams. The English and Maths tuition has been excellent which the children have found both motivating and stretching. The Spanish and French classes have been great, particularly the aural (lovely accents already!) and the children quickly settled in even though they had very little language experience at their previous school. The music has been excellent with a very enthusiastic and approachable music teacher and the children have had great singing and guitar tuition. Sport is also great, and because it is a small school every child who wants to play gets a chance. There are sports matches every week for my son, with great coaching and use of the fantastic Bloxham school facilities. The children are very happy and I would happily recommend the school to other parents.

This school offers as close as you can get to a bespoke education for your child. It's unique family atmosphere ensures that school life can be tailored to bring out the very best in it's pupils. I have a small "girly" girl and a bright , boistrous, "Alpha Male" boy at St John's Priory and the school helps each reach their full potential. I love the wide curriculum and feel that the foreign languages particularly will arm my children with the skills they need to thrive in a modern world. My son has joined the school slightly later, in year 4, and has been welcomed immediately into his class and the school in general. We have tried several private schools in the Warwickshire area and been disappointed by their small curriculum and large classes, always having to legislate for the good of the school rather than the child. This school has the facilities and the enthusiasm of the larger schools coupled with the freedom to do what is best for each child. The best of both worlds.

Our daughter joined St John's Priory in January 2013, and we have been amazed at the change in her outlook. She comes home every day buzzing with what she has been doing, does her prep with enthusiasm, and looks forward eagerly to each new day. In short, she seems to have rediscovered her love of learning. The school have been welcoming, accommodating, and supportive, and we have quickly been made to feel part of the community. We could not have asked for a better start to our daughter's time at the school.

Thank the school

Parents and pupils often have cause to acknowledge the help and support they have received from their schools, for example in helping in the choice of further education or careers. "Say thank you" allows you to send a quick note of appreciation to the school in general or to an individual teacher.

This is a thank you to your school, teacher or careers adviser who helped you to get where you are now.

Please fill in the fields below, which we will transform into a letter of thanks from you to them.

Leave blank if you want to thank the school as a whole

Years you were there

Can be left blank but, if you can, think of a few words that will bring a smile.
