We’d already been prepped by parents about the two ‘lovely ladies on the front desk’ before our visit. ‘They know everyone’s name and couldn’t be more welcoming,’ one had gushed. They didn’t disappoint, and then – as if they’d had the nod to jump out from behind a curtain – a cluster of beautifully behaved children appeared in the large, modern reception area, with several instantly diving to the floor to help their classmate pick up some books and water bottle that she dropped. All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Head of the Prep School

Since September 2020, Nick Tiley-Nunn, previously head of the prep and nursery at Norwich High School for Girls for four years. Wide-ranging leadership experience spans both preps and all-through independent schools in which roles have included SENCo, assistant head (pastoral) and deputy head. Is also team inspector for ISI and an educational consultant specialising in primary maths, where he has been both a published author (How to Teach Primary Maths: Anyone Can Feed Sweets to Sharks) and a regional lead for a large academies group. Having always had his sights set on teaching, he studied primary education Canterbury Christ Church University. Is happiest when outdoors - ideally playing hockey and cricket, walking with his family or taking to the slopes as an enthusiastic skier.
