Parents commented that the college is very good at progressing learners from one-to-one support to small group settings. The college has an excellent record of helping learners to find jobs after completing courses. Students design and update their own interactive CVs. They use tablets or iPads to film group work and voice recorders as an alternative to making a written record of their work and activities. Principal
Since 2019, Kelly Phillips. Her early career progressed in education and social care, before becoming a specialist teacher. She has continued to develop her skills within mainstream and specialist colleges since joining Orchard Hill College in 2007 as a lecturer.
Entrance
From 16+ and 19+ most come from specialist state schools, a few from independent provision. The college likes students and parents to attend an open day or make an appointment to visit before completing the application form. Each applicant is assessed to see whether Orchard Hill has the right provision and which courses they will be best suited to.
