What the school says...

We're rethinking education here at Kimichi. In a good way.

Independent secondary school specialising in music opened September 8th 2014. Cheaper fees than other independents, but the same academic quality you'd expect from such institutions.

"Outstanding in English, History and Music because teachers have excellent ways of inspiring students to learn in these subjects" Ofsted, June 5th 2015.

Is your child a budding musician? Plays an instrument already, or wishes to learn one? We're the only school in the West Midlands where every child is expected to play an instrument. Unlike other music specialist schools, we are non-selective.

It's all about being part of something, whatever your ability. If you want to make music your career, we're also the place for you with links to the Birmingham Conservatoire and support from CBSO players as well as every amateur orchestra in the area and local musicians and music teachers. We also understand music competitions, auditions for music colleges, freelancing and have the expertise to help.

There's more though;
12-15 pupils per class; no more.
personalised, friendly, warm and welcoming.
responsibilities handed more to the pupils.
a LIFE course that prepares every young person for life after school; wherever that may be.

We don't believe in shortcuts, but we also don't believe in 'putting kids in boxes'. Every child is different, learns differently, excels in different things.

Please note: Independent schools frequently offer IGCSEs or other qualifications alongside or as an alternative to GCSE. The DfE does not record performance data for these exams so independent school GCSE data is frequently misleading; parents should check the results with the schools.
