What the school says...
As soon as you arrive at Queen Ethelburga's you sense that, here is somewhere special, friendly and pleasingly different. Our campus is exceptional, with a range and quality of facilities few can equal and an unparalleled variety of courses to suit all tastes and aptitudes. Pupils, past and present, will tell of our successful commitment to them as individuals, our dedicated caring staff and the practical completeness of the education we provide. We ask every student to strive for the Hill Standard - 'to be the best that I can with the gifts that I have'.
The journey begins in Chapter House (Year 1 – 5) where solid foundations are laid in the core subjects. Around this, children are introduced to a wider curriculum and range of extra-curricular activities, so that they can understand who they are, what they enjoy and where their talents lie. All of this occurs in a happy, safe and supportive family atmosphere, geared to developing self-confidence.
King’s Magna (Year 6 – 9) is a time for discovery. An extensive curriculum that introduces children to many creative subjects, as well as the traditional range of academic ones, allows children to find their strengths and explore the possibilities before deciding on their pathway for Key Stage 4 and 5 study. Many leadership opportunities and an extensive range of activities all contribute to the rounded, dynamic and fulfilling education that is offered to each child. ...Read more
