Since 2015, Rob Frisby BHum PGCE, mid 50s, after taking a degree at Goldsmiths College, University of London, enjoyed a career in the leisure industry, managing multi-million pound budgets of community leisure centres, which brought him into daily contact with schools. Took his teaching qualification in Southampton and was snapped up by local secondary school teaching IT and PE. Was attracted to special needs education by the smaller class sizes providing a chance to get to know the children well; ‘I really enjoyed it, thrived on it’. Has steadily built up experience in a range of special needs provisions across Hampshire and Dorset, including schools delivering specialist autism provision, emotional and behavioural difficulties, pupil referral units and complex needs, most recently working at Chilworth House, Oxford. Special Education Needs
We are an independent co-educational day school providing specialist education for children aged 4-11 years who hold a statement of special educational needs for Autistic Spectrum Disorders and Asperger's Syndrome. We aim to be more than just a school and are unique in our multi-disciplinary approach to working with children with ASD's. We believe we can develop the global needs of our children not just their education. We provide our parents and families with outreach support into the home to help with establishing routines, managing behavioural issues and providing advice and support. Our resident multi-disciplinary team consists of in-house speech and language therapists, psychologists, an occupational therapist and a music therapist. The team works alongside the class teachers, to provide a holistic approach for each child and a range of much needed family support including home visits and training workshops. Dec 09.
