Special Education Needs

Carnbooth School was established in 1985 to offer day and residential facilities for children with dual sensory impairment in varying degrees and who have been assessed as requiring special education. The present roll is 13, some of whom are day pupils and some residential according to their individual educational needs. We aim to be flexible in our support of every child and young person. For example, a split placement may best meet the needs of the individual pupil, with part of the week in Carnbooth and part in another educational establishment. Parents should note that the working capacity of the school may vary dependent upon the number of pupils at each stage and the way in which classes are organised. Carnbooth School is in a magnificent two storey villa within its own grounds, situated in the city of Glasgow just west of Carmunnock village. Resident children each have their own room and the school has a comprehensive range of educational and leisure facilities including activity rooms, gymnasium, sound perception room, ultra-violet/dark room, dining/kitchen areas. There is a facility within the school for parents to stay overnight if necessary. The school has a non-denominational status. Within the school we aim to foster an atmosphere of love, trust and mutual respect.
