What says..

Mainstream subject teaching (with specialist teaching from year 3) is approached with imaginative vigour – so year 6s are absorbing poetry, history, the classical tradition and the art of storytelling by comparing The Odyssey with John Wyndham’s The Day of the Triffids (discovering that the latter provides a rather pacier intro). Neatly serried rows of muddy wellies testify to the fact that Hampstead Heath, a five-minute walk away, is essentially the school playground, with most pupils spending time there most days…

What the school says...

Heathside is a small and friendly day school, housed in four historic buildings a few minutes walk from a beautiful meadow on Hampstead Heath, where the children play every lunchtime.

The school is a unique and highly successful learning environment, rated Outstanding in all seven areas by Ofsted. With inspirational teachers and a strong focus on individual learning and pastoral care, our students flourish. Heathside is a relaxed and happy place and academic standards are high.

We produce highly able mathematicians and lifelong readers and writers. We playfully bring out the artist in everyone. Every child in the school learns French from a native speaker. Music and drama are particular strengths, and everyone performs several times a year. We play a wide range of sports to high standards. Everyone from Reception up plays chess, and we have been national chess champions many times. Extra-curricular activities range from Capoeira, Chinese and Coding to our popular Write-and-Recite and Philosophy clubs.
We teach outdoors when we can. We have lots of inspirational visitors and enriching trips. When it snows, we build snowmen and go tobogganing on Hampstead Heath. We get excellent academic results and secondary school places and dont stop having fun along the way.
