Special Education Needs
Witherslack Hall School caters for boys exhibiting social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. The school provides a safe, secure and caring environment for boys with: Specific Learning Difficulties, Oppositional Defiant Disorders, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Aspergers Syndrome, Attachment Disorders, Conduct Disorders, ADHD, Pathological Demand Avoidance Disorders, Anxiety and Depression. The school employs nearly 100 trained staff including a full-time Educational Psychologist and a Speech and Lanuage Therapist. In addition to the National Curriculum we deliver an extensive Vocational Programme including Construction, Environmental Studies, Motor Vehicle Engineering and Catering to name but a few. We also have 38 qualified care staff to manage over 25 risk-assessed recreational activities. The school has a hugely successful record of sporting achievements. Two detached cottages are provided for Year 11 and Post 16 provision, where each young person completes a personalised leavers' programme which incorporates all aspects of helping to live life independently. Post 16 young men will also attend local colleges with support staff.
