What The Good Schools Guide says

Headteacher

Since 2022, Mrs Sotiria Vlahodimou, BSc MSc PGDip PGCE NaSENco NPQH. Following a degree in medical microbiology at the University of Surrey, and a career in paediatric vaccines, Mrs Vlahodimou was motivated to enter teaching by her own dispiriting experiences of education - she was told she was not academic enough, just good at languages! She took her teaching certificate at the university of Chichester and started at a special school in West Sussex, becoming SENco. In 2016, she joined Slindon College, first as assistant then full SENco, taking a dyslexia teaching qualification and NPQH on the way. Honoured to be the first female head of the all-boys school, she has her students' confidence and happiness high on her to-do list.

Please note: Independent schools frequently offer IGCSEs or other qualifications alongside or as an alternative to GCSE. The DfE does not record performance data for these exams so independent school GCSE data is frequently misleading; parents should check the results with the schools.

Special Education Needs

We are a centre of excellence for moderate but complex learning difficulties including, but not limited to, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Asperger's Syndrome (mild) and others that may overlap. Slindon is also a haven for less able or vulnerable pupils who will not thrive in large classes. We have a warm and friendly atmosphere. The school adopts a holistic approach to learning support. Small classes with experienced teachers and a large team of classroom assistants are further supported by ICT, a dyslexia unit, dietary measures, Bowen therapy and medication. Special needs planning is present at every level. Individual education planning goes beyond the classroom and is truly unique. Every pupil is fully included, enabled, valued and encouraged.
