Avalon is a community school catering for pupils from three to sixteen years who have severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties including autistic spectrum disorders. All pupils have a statement of special educational needs. The school provides outreach support to pupils and staff in mainstream schools. The Acorns, a mainstream nursery, is based at the school.
